Hi everyone,

Where can I find Esperanto speakers to practice speaking with? I'd like to speak with people on Skype to improve my spoken Esperanto.

Thanks for your help!

Davido

Hello and bonvenon!

I just covered a Discord group in another thread here in Lernu. (You can use Discord with a webbrowser or download the application to your computer.)

You can download Amikumu app to your mobile phone to find an E-o speaker near you.

And finally the traditional way... Google for a local club and see what they have.

PS. While not allowing to speak yourself, you might be interested in videos by Evildea on Youtube.

One of the best ways of improving your speaking skills in Esperanto is to go to an Esperanto congress. This year the British Congress will be in Aberystwyth. You might qualify for financial assistance with your travel and accommodation cost from the Norwich foundation. Go to this page and scroll to the bottom.

On the other hand if you are anywhere near East Kent, perhaps I could meet up with you to give you some practice, if that takes your fancy.

Another possibility, if you are anywhere near London, is to pop along to a meeting of the London Esperanto Club. Look atthis page in English or this page in Esperanto

The thread is a request for friendship. This will not end to the liking of the stakeholders here - especially if you go on Amikumu. That is a dating service. Remember, dating is a high risk activity. Look up relationship advice, of course. Go slow, for example. But what is not a matter of course is, you should look up aspects of workplaces and persuasion techniques, and try to avoid using persuasion techniques. Persuasion can get you to look the way you'd need to to get your way with people - but it's too much power. Persuasion can get you into a lot of situations that you'd later regret ever entering.

Never begin forplay nor sex without inspecting someone's ID first. And never should an insertive partner get on top of a receptive partner, even if there is no penetration. My lay opinion is, every sex-crime accusation involves penetration from above.

LighterAndSofter, would you like to use Pasporta Servo?

Eh? Well, that might apply in your location but not here. I have used it to call nearby Esperantists into the informal meetings of the local E-o association. I've also been contacted by E-o speaking tourists, who wanted to have tips of local sights and info about bus routes.

Not so many contacts so far but enough to see the potential of Amikumu as a means to bring Esperantists together and aware, that they are not alone.

Also in Belgium I have good results with Amikumu and I met good esperantofriends. First you can contact each other only with the text message tool in Amikumu. Afterwards you can meet on a neutral place (café, station, park, ...).

Mood1e, I have found something that perfectly matches your requirements. Look at this link for a description of the Ekparolu initiative by Edukado.net.

Briefly this brings together experienced Esperantists (la geonkloj) with learners (la genevoj) for a certain number of free hours of speaking practice.

This is a very welcome initiative because your request for speaking practice has often been matched by similar requests in this forum in the past.

If you wish to enrol as one of the 'nevoj' go to this page

Mood1e, if you do enrol as one of the Nevinoj, do report back your experience of the interactions with the Onkloj to the forum, as I am sure that would be of interest to many forum members
