I would like to know whether the "handheld electronic games" from the '80s have another name more popular, not so technical. In Spain we called them "maquinitas" (little machines).

In Finland they were called elektroniikkapelit (electronic games). If I am not erring, the short English name was handheld games. For some reason one has opted poŝ- in E-o for handheld, at least according to Komputeko. So in E-o they might be called poŝludiloj.
