I'm finishing the tenth lesson of La teorio Nakamura, and have noticed a few different ways to talk about age. I'm wondering if one of these is less marked/more frequently used than the others.
  • Ŝi estas tridek naŭ jarojn aĝa.
  • Ŝi aĝas tridek naŭ jarojn.
  • Ŝi estas je tridek naŭ jaroj aĝa.

I don't know about markedness or frequency, but the last one looks a bit odd and uncommon to me. We have the "accusative of measure" which you used in your first sentence, and I see no reason why to replace it by "je". The last one sound to me personally as weird as "? ŝi aĝas je tridek naŭ jaroj."

In my opinion, "je" is a means of last resort. As long as we don't really have any other way to express our thoughts, we might want to avoid it.

Zamenhof also used expressions like "havi la aĝon de X jaroj/monatoj/ktp" and "esti aĝulo de X jaroj/monatoj/ktp" and "ies aĝo estas X".

I would say that

  • Ŝi estas tridek naŭ jarojn aĝa.
  • Ŝi havas tridek naŭ jarojn.
are the most common ones. I agree with Nornen, that "je" is a last resort means, if you don't remember any other way to express one's age.
