Spence, I think I just sprained my retinas over that Welsh name!

I don't want to try and say it because it'll put my tongue in traction, even if half the letters aren't pronounced.

And you're right, it does look more English. I'm going off what a friend studying linguistics told me, so it's not something carved in stone.

Yeah, I don't think I'd attempt a pronunciation either! Especially when you consider that Welsh probably gives Klingon a run for its money in the guttural stakes. You'd probably rupture your throat. rideto.gif

I think the main problem of publishing is money. The publisher wants to see a deposit of money before they make copies, so they aren't going to be out the money to publish this and have only 3 people buy copies. That's the sad state of affairs in the world however.

Indeed! There is actually a translation into Faroese! and sinc there are only maybe 50K speakers of it in existance, I can't imagine the publisher did it out of the goodness of their heart! What we (esperantists) need to do is contribute, say, 1-5 bucks each to a "HP esperantigita" fund!

Lemme try that again.

Actually all the letters ARE pronounced! Scary, innit? Anyway, here's an in-esperanto-style-spelling transliteration ("lx" will be the LL in Welsh, a sound made by putting the speech organs in the position to say Esperanto L but forcing the air out along one or both sides of the tongue without voicing; and "y" will be the English sound "uh"):

Lxanvajr-pulxgŭingilx-gogery-hxŭyrndrobulx-lxantysilio-gogogohx. (Divided into "manageable" sections by hyphens ridulo.gif)

I did read Harry Potter in English and German and tried some Italean, and the Magic Words are the same!

I would love to get that book in Esperanto!
I also signed! ridulo.gif

Why would the publishers print copies of their books in a "dead" language
Because it could/should be used in Latin class which are probably more than Eo class (for the official ones and in countries like europe and US, I mean) and because people have a better consideration for Latin than Eo.

Okay, I signed it. I bothered myself to translate the first paragraph of the first chapter:

PLEASE CORRECT ME!
KOREKTU MIAN GRAMATIKON, BONVOLU!

S-ro kaj S-ino Dursli de numeralo kvar, Privet Strato, estis fiera diri ke ili estis perfekte norma, dankon. Ili estis la lasta homoj vi atendus engaĝi en io stranga aŭ mistera, ĉar ili ne toleris tia sensencaĵon.

Mr. and Mrs. Dursley of number four, Privet Drive, were proud to say that they were perfectly normal, thank you very much. They were the last people you'd expect to be involved in anything strange or mysterious, because they just didn't hold with such nonsense.

lol. Translating a bit here and there is fun.
