It is important not to paint with too broad of a brush, however, and to remember that just as Esperanto can be used to put forth views that are leftist, communist, anti-religious, or politically liberal, etc., the same language can be used to put forth ideas that are right-wing, free-market, religious, tradition-honoring, and conservative.
Unless such use is not allowed.
Actually, Orthohawk, this is one area where Esperanto shines. I had some good Internet conversations with an Esperantist who lives in a country where the intolerance and viewpoint-discrimination are so severe that his comments could have endangered his career and possibly even his life. He was able to be candid and tell me what was really going on as well as what he thought about it simply because we could hide behind the language barrier where he didn't have to worry about the "Thought Police" and "Big Brother Watching You" and be safe. I wish I had saved those conversations--they were some of the most enlightening I've ever had.

That experience made me fiercely defensive about freedom of expression in the proverbial market place of ideas. Through Esperanto, I saw firsthand how critically important it is in a society to maintain a firm grip on fundamental rights such as freedom of religion, freedom of speech / expression, a free press, and freedom from intrusive government harassment. Nobody has the right to persecute someone for expressing his opinions, sharing his convictions, or living by his principles.
