I was wondering how many LGBT people there are in the Esperanto community so I made this quick poll.

You might also want to try to post this elsewhere, like Reddit, and just ask those who have already answered here to abstain from answering again (or if you get a lot more responses there, just disregard these)

I'm pansexual AND asexual but I can't click both so I thought I'd just let you know.

I'd just like to say that I'm tetrasexual, retrosexual and sometimes omnisexual.

I didn't take the poll but there are quite a few LGBT people involved in Esperanto. There is also an association - LSG, Ligo de Samseksemaj Geesperantistoj. Their website unfortunately seems to be down, perhaps someone didn't pay the hosting fee.

How does that even work (unless this is satire)? It would be like me saying I'm an atheist and believe in God.

Queer transgender dude here, no choices for me in the poll.

(As an aside, if there are other queer Esperantistoj who'd like to practice with me, feel free to shoot me a message <3 )

I know/have known well two people who were pansexually romantic/romantically attracted, but were asexual and therefore did not sexually act on it nor have that desire. I presume that's the case here.

Are you romantically or sexually attracted to either biological sex, neither, or both? I can't see what couldn't possibly be covered by this poll.

You being transgender, I can definitely see why it would be problematic whether to answer the poll with respect to your biological sex or your gender identity, making the straight/gay answers a mislead poll result.
Ex. If a biological female who identifies as a male is attracted to biological males (I have a friend who fits that description), then it would be misleading to answer the poll as straight or gay. The individual might be inclined to answer biologically that they are straight, or they may go by gender identity and reply as gay.

I am not sure if it's obvious or not, but I want to make it clear that I'm not criticising or even commenting one way or the other on any opinion of gender, I am merely speaking objectively on how the poll may not accurately reflect the sexuality of transgender individuals.

Irrespective of whether the OP intended to ask about sexuality or gender identity, they used the LGBT acronym, which includes the T for transgender folks. I could indeed pick "pansexual", but that doesn't cover it for me - thus the comment.

As to your asking which sexes/genders I am attracted to, I have to note that there are more than two biological sexes and far more than two gender identities. That's getting into gender and sexuality 101 though and while I don't mind going there, it's slightly off-topic.

Honestly it's not a big deal; I just wanted to throw my identity out there in case there are any Esperantistoj like me who see this and might want to start a conversation. Visibility is important.
