I've been recently learning more of the suffixes used in esperanto. I really like how they can change words like, "tree" into "forest", and "word" into "dictionary". Sometimes though, I see one of these words and wonder if I would have thought to make it from a suffix appended root as such.

I was thinking about the best way to train this way of thinking and tried to google for a list of words derived from suffixes (and maybe even prefixes) -- but to no success.

Does anyone have a link to a list/dictionary of words that are created by adding a -fix to a root word? I thought if I see enough of these words, this kind of system would become more spontaneous to my thought process.

Thanks.

There is a relatively small number of compound words which have become entrenched in the language whose conventional meaning is more specific than you might have imagined eg 'vortaro' (dictionary) , 'eldoni' (publish), 'lernejo' (school), but largely compound words mean what you would expect them to mean.

So it is no surprise that 'strangulo' means weirdo, 'bonega' means excellent, 'instruisto' means teacher and so on.

Most course-books I have seen give copious examples of the standard prefixes and suffixes. If you scroll down to section 38 in this link you will find detailed guidance as to usage.
