In the general public outside the English speaking countries, a tendency is prevailing to adore English as a new language of sciences instead of French and Latin etc.
In one of the fora on politics, 'Politikforum' in Germany, we do find an example on how difficult it is to correctly understand English when applied in science. The whole thread of a discussion there, e.g., is dealing with a flooding in Africa, including - as they guess - the Sahel region, which is absolutely contrary to facts. The flooding was farther deep in the south.
And now show for yourselves what has done a contribution there under the heading
"Oceanic Forcing of Sahel Rainfall on Interannual to Interdecadal Time Scales"
Nobody understood, or even they understand the opposite.

Since the 1960s, the semi-arid Sahel region in Africa has experienced a severe drought. In his Perspective, Zeng analyzes the possible causes of this drought. He highlights the report of Giannini et al., whose model study suggests that changes in worldwide sea surface temperatures have played a key role in the Sahel drought. Natural vegetation processes and land use change probably reinforced the oceanic changes to produce the unusual drought. The relative magnitudes of natural and anthropogenic influences on Sahel climate remain to be quantified. If the trend in global sea surface temperature is related to anthropogenic global warming, the Sahel may be a harbinger of global changes.
Die Überschrift
Ozeanische Verstärkung der Regenfälle in der Sahelzone auf Zeitabstände alle paar Jahre bis zu dekadischen Abständen (?)
(falls richtig übersetzt) soll also besagen, dahs es in der Sahelzone ((von der aber in den Überschwmmungsmeldungen gar nicht die Rede war, sondern von südlicheren Regionen)) durch die ozeanische Verdunstungs-Verstärkung bald bis zu (fast) jährlichen oder alle Dekaden mal stattfindenden Regenfällen kommen soll.
Dieser englische Text ist somit schon in der Überschrift ein schwammiges Etwas, das überigens gar nichts aussagt, da mit Abständen von zehn Jahren oder so immer mal schon mit Regen gerechnet werden konnte. Was soll das also für ein Fortschritt sein?
"Interannual" - also zwischen den Jahren mal hin und wieder - klingt schon besser.
Wenn man das aber offen lässt - in der Ausage oben - ob nun fast jährlich oder nur alle Dekaden mal Regen kommen werde, dann ist das mal wieder eine nichts Bestimmtes bringende - also sich auf nichts festlegen wollende Aussage professoraler Dunkelmaterie. -
Oder die englische Beschreibung in der Überschrift ist bar jeder Klarheit. Weswegen das Englische in der Wissenschaft durch ein einfaches Latein bzw. die LINGUNA (aus Esperanto entstanden, jedoch sehr stark erweitert) ersetzt werden sollte.
Da ich -- und viele Tausende anderer -- nicht die Zeit haben, eine Art Spökeskiekerei in der englischen Sprache zu betreiben, um herauszukriegen, was eigentlich gemeint ist oder gar dessen Gegenteil, möchten wir doch bitten, dahs in Zukunft eine exakte Übersetzung mitgeliefert wird, und zwar in einem deutschen Forum eben in Deutsch, denn wir leben hier nicht auf einem englischen Mond.
Das englische Gemansche und jämmerlich unpräzise Gewäsch verbitten wir uns, ebenso die Arroganz, mit der allen Ausserenglischen dieses Anglomanisch aufgedrängt wird, erst recht!
