I am reading The Kill Order by James Dashner and in chapter 47 I stumbled over the following sentence:

James Dashner:Boss's partner turns and bolts down the hallway along the bank of windows, as quickly as she's done anything yet.

What does that mean?
Did she run down the hallway at the speed at which she had been operating the whole time (as quickly as)?
Did she run down the hallway faster than anything she had done before?
Tiel rapide, kiel sxi faris ion ajn gxis nun?

Does this sentence mean that before she had been sluggish and suddenly she run fast?
Or does it mean that she has been really quick the whole time?

How would you, dear native speaker, put this sentence in Esperanto?

The sentence didn't make any sense at all to me, at the first reading. If you put the stress on the last word - yet - I think it means: she bolted down the hallway faster than she had ever done anything before. But I ultimately can't tell between the two possible interpretations. If I sat down and thought about it for a bit, and had access to surrounding context, maybe I could figure it out. Not the kind of clarity you want as a writer!

I would be tempted to parse/translate it as follows into EO:

pli rapide ol kiel ŝi kuregis iam ajn antaŭe

'bolts' (kuregi) sets the stage for the comparison with her alacrity in previous situations - which will naturally have been variable.

The comparison is not with an average or uniform celerity. The meaning is that her speed matched any previous speed (tiel rapida kiel la plej rapida ĝis tiam).

Imagine an account of explorers traversing difficult terrain.

We looked up at the steepness of the mountain side in awe. It was going to be as difficult a climb as any previously encountered.

In my purely feel-based interpretation I'd say it is putting a specific emphasis on the idea that she is giving it 100% of her effort; she's not moving any less quickly than she has shown herself capable of in the past.
