Is my translation of this quote correct?

I'm trying to translate a quote into Esperanto. The English version is:
You want to know the difference between a master and a beginner? The master has failed more times than the beginner has even tried.
My first attempt is:
Ĉu vi scivolas la diferencon inter majstro kaj komencanto? La majstro malsukcesis pli fojoj ol la komencanto penis.
Ĉu mi pravas, aŭ ĉu mi aĉas? ridulo.gif

Not being a native speaker, I don't feel confident enough that I know if the exact English meaning is correctly rendered into Esperanto, so take my comments with a grain of salt. However,

vi scivolas is somewhat different from You want to know. Scivoli is to be curious to know something, to be eager to know it. I would keep the two roots seperate. Ĉu vi volas scii la diferencon.
Pli needs the preposition da or should be changed into an adjective. Either pli da or pliaj.
Moments, durations and lengths, if not introduced by a preposition, need the accusative. Therefore, if using pliaj fojoj, it should really be pliajn fojojn. By contrast, pli da use the preposition da and wouldn't take the accusative.
The nuance of even in has even tried, could be rendered by eĉ.[/list]My attempt:
Ĉu vi volas scii la diferencon inter majstro kaj komencanto? La majstro malsukcesis pliajn fojojn ol la komencanto eĉ penis.

"Ĉu vi volas scii kiel majstro kaj komencanto malsamas? Majstro plifoje maksukcesis ol komencato eĉ penis."

Absolutely. I was trying to keep the editing to a minimum but I agree that "kiel ili malsamas" and "plifoje" are shorter and more elegant. ridulo.gif

Seconded! Nice use of adverbs - they're really neat for shortening phrases.

Vi volas scii kio diferencigas la majstron de la komencanto? La majstro spertis malsukceson pli ol la komencanto spertis sukceson.

By the way, Esperanto has 3 verbs for English's 'try' - peni, provi, klopodi.
