Interesting.

What status does the UEA have with the UN?

Here an item about the cooperation between UNESCO and UEA:
Contribution to UNESCO's programmes
This organization (sc. Universal Esperanto Association), whose representativeness is small and unbalanced (over-representation of Europe), sees UNESCO as an important opposite number in its cultural aims of creating dialogue among peoples. It took part in the collective consultation on youth but not in the Director-General’s consultations on the C/4 and C/5 documents during the period under review. It reacted late to the C/4 document and its contribution to the Sexennial Report was submitted after the deadline. It does not submit activities reports regularly and its main field (Esperanto) is considered as being marginal in relation to the Organization’s programme priorities. A UNESCO Esperanto association has recently been formed. It does not fully meet the requirements for admission to formal relations. The world Esperanto community was upset by the Executive Board’s decision at its 149th session, on the recommendation of the Director-General, to place relations with the Association on an informal basis. The UEA asked that this decision be reviewed. The programme sectors concerned, in particular ED and CII, were again consulted. They feel that there are grounds for reviewing the decision. Co-operation does exist, although it is too limited, and this fact could be reflected in admission to operational relations. The important work done by the UEA in disseminating UNESCO’s message and furthering its ideals within this NGO’s information networks should not be overlooked.
Source.

Maybe UEA should file their documents on schedule and submit activities reports in order to be taken seriously.
