The Esperanto movement has already been created. The same idea (which is just old and extremely common) of setting up geographically spread groups, has been done and is being done all the time. I'm sure the internet does this in a different way, but it also lacks the reality of real-world groups. How many internet 'tribes' or 'communities' are really just scattered individuals who only appear like a cohesive group? Many I think.
I think Godin misses something, the outside world has to be receptive to the 'big idea' and even then there's no guarantee that what the 'leader' is really offering is either beneficial or sensible (think Trump, who has built a movement based on narrow-minded fears and offering an outlet for it).
It's a seven year-old Ted talk and it doesn't surprise me that it hasn't set the world on fire, because it isn't really a new concept it's just a new name for an established idea. What's the difference between a person who says 'I think this' and then tries to convince everyone to join in and the ordinary marketer who says 'let's build a brand identity'. Not that much. Maybe the former is a bit more idealistic.
In what way do you think it should be applied to Esperanto?
