I like and respect Esperanto as a language (it is one of the first conlangs, created over 130 years ago in 1887) as well as its history and "culture".
The thing is, that many Esperantists defend/justify every single "flaw" found in the language (e.g. gender etc) rather than accept the "flaws". Many Esperantists also like to bash all other IALs (auxlangs). They believe that Esperanto is 100% perfect and that all other IALs are doomed to fail.
I personally like all IALs (auxlangs), including Esperanto.

I like and respect English as a language (the first authoritative and full-featured English dictionary, the "Dictionary of the English Language", was created over 240 years ago in 1755) as well as its history and "culture".

I'm sorry for the stupid joke, but it's really hot today. And it's hard for me to understand the essence of the message.

What is the purpose of those similar threads? The people that answered to it on Duolinguo were right; but apparently you didn't like their answers, because as I have already said you deleted this thread.

Zam_franca:Hey! k2attack, you are 2cool4cool from Duolinguo! I read your thread, that is the same here, and many people answered you. But you deleted it.The thing is that many Esperantists get defensive and bitter over even the slightest criticisms of not just the language itself but also the community. This spoils the image of Esperanto, Esperantists and IALs in general.

Esperanto and Esperantists are bashed mostly by those who aren't into constructed languages in general, rather than by Idists and Interlinguans.

k2attack:What you say is wrong. I do think there are flaws in Esperanto, and I don't think there is one single esperantist in this forum that thinks Esperanto is a perfect language.Zam_franca:Hey! k2attack, you are 2cool4cool from Duolinguo!I read your thread, that is the same here, and many people answered you. Arguing Esperanto is sometimes necessary; people have many prejudices against it.
Also, if Esperantists can "get defensive", it's sometimes because some people use these flaws to say things like "Esperanto is pure *****. Those who learnt it are idealistic morons."

k2attack:Well, I think that here there is more of misunderstood than of reality. Maybe there is someone saying that Esperanto is perfect, because there is people of every kind, but I think that you, actually, are misunderstanding things. Esperanto is like that. Could it be different? Of course. Means that that it have flaws? Not at all. I don't mean it has no flaws. I mean that you see flaws in things that you just don't like. The way gender works in Esperanto, it's not a flaw, it's a way to do it. In fact, a very similar way gender works in a lot of languages. Your likes or dislikes aren't right or wrong choices. They are just Zamenhof's likes, not yours or mines.

And that's why people get defensive, because you take opinions as facts. Opinions are just opinions.
Anyway, even if Esperanto it's not perfect, every proposal of change I see they just are aesthetic changes, not real improves, and it's like that because it's really, really hard to make it better. That's why so many later projects took and take Esperanto as a base.
