Hi all,

I was wondering if any of you here participate in any Esperanto chatrooms, and if so which ones?

I myself use IRC a lot and I'm always on the #esperanto channel at irc.freenode.net, which seems to me to be the best Esperanto IRC channel out there. I also use the lernu.net Tujmesaĝilo from time to time, although the ĉeestantaro does often seem to be quite small there for some reason. Strange when there are so many regular forum posters!

I've looked for Esperanto rooms on Undernet and EFnet and even DALnet but never found them. Freenode is one I'm not familiar with. Shows how out of touch with IRC I've become over the years ridulo.gif I'll check it out.

The Lernu Tujmesaĝilo does sometimes get busy; recently there's been as many as 22 people there but that tends to be around noon EST, so probably late afternoon/early evening British time.

There's one on EFnet but there are only ever 2 or 3 people in there and they never say anything.

The one on freenode is pretty good, there are usually around 40+ people there, and most of them speak Esperanto pretty well. Join us! rideto.gif

Saluton!

I have been trying to follow links to online Esperanto chatrooms, but all the links I find either don't work for me or are expired. If you know of a link, could you please post the entire webaddress? I am having no luck at all finding a working chat.

I did try to go to freenode but it didn't work out. Could you please post the link to another one?

Right now my other practice than the online course "Mi estas komencanto" is a sort of pigeon Esperanto correspondence I'm doing with someone online. Helpo!

You might want to try Mibbit for connecting to IRC.

Just click "Server", select "Freenode", enter your nick and "##esperanto" in the appropriate textboxes and click "Go".

edit: Corrected this - if you click "Server", you can no longer select something from the drop-down menu. I guess it's clearer what you have to do now.

*sigh*

I did everything you posted, and it still won't connect. I give up. malgajo.gif

I couldn't connect that way either but I put 'esperanto' into the 'find channels' box & that got a list up. I just clicked on a link (there was one for freenode, among others) to connect.

Thanks for the link Darkweasel, I didn't know there was a way to IRC from a web browser. I noticed ther was a 'komencanto' (beginner) channel which should be very useful in the near future (I hope!).

Guy
