I put up a more complete version of this report in the Novajxoj section, but thought that some komencantoj might find a brief summary in English interesting and useful.

On July 4, I set up a new website called La Verda Stelo. The superficial goal is to have a place updated at least daily where you can find the best, most interesting stuff online created in Esperanto. The real goal is to help Esperanto-language content creators reach a wider audience.

So far, the results are mixed. During a relatively inexpensive Facebook ad campaign, the number of visitors to the site and members of the Facebook group shot up dramatically, but after the end of the ad campaign only a small percentage of those visitors kept returning on their own. According to Google Analytics, the site draws between 30-50 unique visitors on most days.

I will consider the project a success (and continue updating the web page regularly) if, by the end of my summer break in a few weeks, the site has at least 100 unique visitors daily. Otherwise, it's not really accomplishing its goal of helping content creators find a new audience.
