Such thing as a audio-only version of Y-tube?

On the odd occasion I've wanted to use my iphone to audio-ise something I've said and post a link here but the best I can really do is upload it to a download site, which I don't think offers users peace of mind since download sites are often perceived as being risky or infected unless you're an everyday user or whatnot.

Are there any audio-only versions of youtube out there?

Cheers!

If you have any kind of editing program like Movie Maker or iMovie, you can just create a title screen instead of having video, and then just add the audio. I do this all the time on Youtube.

It would be usefull if there are. I, also. would like to know if there are.

Maybe you know this already, but Ipernity.com http://www.ipernity.com/home seems to be usable like an audio youtube. Users have audio files in their "gallery" that can be played without downloading, for example in Lernu-user Qwerty's Ipernity page http://www.ipernity.com/doc/57354/9070741.

Also, Ipernity user pages have "playlists" with music, but I suspect you could place any audio file there in order to make it available for others to play. As an example, here is Qwerty's page with playlist on the right side: http://www.ipernity.com/home/57354

I don't know anything about the details or technically how to do it. I only visit people's pages, often only to play music for my own enjoyment. rido.gif

And of course Ipernity is available in Esperanto. rideto.gif

Other advantages of Ipernity over youtube are that ipernity loads fast, changes selections fast, doesn't use much bandwith,(important for people with bandwith limits, DSL or Dial-up internet connections, and people in less developed nations or locations), and doesn't use much computer resources (for example, it doesn't slow down other tasks on a computer, and can be used effectively even with an older computer or less powerful computer-like devices like cell phones).

Of course part of the above advantages are due to simply playing a (smaller, simpler) audio file instead of playing a (larger, more complex) video file.

(I need to make an account for myself there.)rideto.gif

Hopefully this will help you until someone else suggests something better.

Cheers Razlem and AnFu. I do have iMovie but I just don't want to go using it lango.gif But it looks like that (or using ipernity - which I didn't realise could have mp3s etc without having a paid account) might be the best option for now.

I guess there's no market for an audio-only youtube when most home-made audio is either very specialised, part of a podcast or music! ridulo.gif

Ipernity server also offers an special slim web interface for cell phones via http://m.ipernity.com/. There also is a iPhone app listed.

Yes, like mentioned before by AnFu: The upload of mp3s is part of the free Ipernity account facilities and can be accessed later by the user's account "gallery"-feature. The free Ipernity account has a 200 MB upload limit per month.

To login to Ipernity Mobile it could be recommended to login via slim:

https://www.ipernity.com/sso/mobile/email (encrypted transfer of login data will be enforced by ipernity)

and not via blown-up http://www.ipernity.com start page which seems to be intented for Desktop computers. The start page includes a big picture (of the day) which could slow down data transfer.
