When I'm not making language tutors on this site cringe when I turn in lessons, I'm also an avid shortwave radio listener.

I'm figuring that there's got to be SOME stations out there that broadcast in Esperanto. Heck, I'd love it if there was one totally in Esperanto. However, I'm coming up empty.

Anyone here also into DXing, and know if any of the major stations have Esperanto language broadcasts? Or, better yet, a station just for Esperanto users? I tend to listen to Radio Taiwan, China Radio International, Radio Australia, BBC, NHK English....OK, I listen to a lot of stations.

Do keep in mind that I'm in the middle of the USA, and I only have a nice portable (Eton E10) receiver.

Thanks,
Shawna

Go to http://esperanto.org/ilera/auk98.html it's an EO ham group, I'm sure you can get information from them.

They're not shortwave but perhaps you're also interested in these internet stations and podcasts:

I'm also into DXing, in fact that's how I learned about Esperanto. I know there are definitely some Esperanto broadcasts out there, but I've always been told that your best bet would be to flip around the dial during a major European soccer match, especially if you find the coverage on a station from a country with a great deal of Esperanto speakers (for instance, eastern Europe), that is if their team isn't involved (If they are, they're more likely to use their native tongue). They often have commentary in Esperanto, but I've only caught it once.

Happy surfing,
KP

A sports broadcast in Esperanto? Now that I'd love to hear ridulo.gif

I imagine there are a lot of people who are enthusiasts of both Esperanto and shortwave. I haven't fired up my radios much lately but I do enjoy scanning bands.
