I know that Lernu doesn't yet have the capability for people to change their username. Is it possible to cancel my account & then start a new one?

You see, when I first joined Lernu! I couldn't quickly think of the appropriate username so I typed in "markotraviko" which is an esperantized version of my real name Marcus Trawick. Now, everywhere else online I'm known simply as "Marko". What to do?

I suggest you to contact the site administrators. There's a link on every page, it seems.

First - it is possible to cancel your account and start a new one, but if you do that, you will lose all stored information regarding courses you've completed.

Contact teamo@lernu.net if you want to do that.

But if I were you, I'd stick with the username you already have. You can't choose "Marko", since it is already taken. Your only choice would be to choose "Marko" followed by a number or another word, and that doesn't really sound better than your current username.

Maybe he might be fine with marko_ or _marko or _marko_ or some other such combination.

You're right. Besides, I now have a small collection of friends that I'd rather not lose track of.

I did attempt to take an exam before I realized that it was timed.

I began the exam, and I'm not making this up, left the computer for a while to finish applying my mother's hair color, then came back and finished the exam which I ofcourse failed.

Mom's hair was successful.

At least there's that.

In any case, you can try again in a week. Lots of people don't pass the first time, even if they didn't accidentally let their time expire!

Well, I know I didn't pass the first time. And I failed WELL within the time allotted! ridulo.gif

I have a question along the same lines.

Several years ago, I joined this site with the username Ravenamore. It wasn't a good time for me to be learning Esperanto, so I stopped coming her for a couple of years.

When I came back to this site, I'd forgotten about the old account. I made a new account, which is the one I'm using now.

The problem I have is, the email address I use the most is the one I used on the old account. I no longer use the email address I signed up on this account.

How do I change the email address on this account? Because of the old account, I can't just change it.

Thanks in advance.

Shawna

Hi Shawna

The workaround would have been to change the old account's address, then use the preferred address with the new account.

However - I just deleted your old account, so now you can feel free to change the e-mail address for your new account.

FYI for anyone interested, write to teamo@lernu.net if you want to delete an account.
