Hi, does anyone know if it's possible to type a term into the Lernu dictionary which has more than one word, such as "so that" or "cxi tie"? I often get terms with more than one word in the results, but when I try to type one in, even one I've seen in the results, I don't get anything.

I think the best thing you can do is try to work it out. Well, that works translating esperanto into english. Cxi tie, for example, just type in the individual words, and it shouldnt be too hard to figure out what it means. Going from english into esperanto might be harder, especially if you are using an idiom, or just where the individual words have nothing to do with the words put together.

You can try compressing words. "So that" you could make into "Therefore", if thats the context you mean it in. Other then that, I'm not sure!

Yes, it is possible, although only for those multi-word phrases that they've put into the vortaro.

Try typing in "because of" or "in front of". Those have been entered, and you will get a result. However, lots of phrases haven't been entered, and so a lot of time it won't work.

I just put in 'so that' which came out as 'tiel, ke'.

As RiotNrrd mentioned, several multi-word expressions are already in the dictionary, and it is possible to add more. I have just added "cxi tie". If there are other multi-word expressions (whose meanings aren't clear from the words alone), in English or Esperanto, please send me a list in a private message and I'll add them to the dictionary.
