So, while translating things, I've hit points wherein I have to translate a variety of casual greetings. The problem is, in English, we have "Hey," "Yo," "What's up," and other varied little salutations.

In Esperanto, I found "He" as greeting, but for the most part, the kinds of words I'm looking for are slang and therefore not in dictionaries. Especially the old ones. I've tried using "Ej," and "Jo," but I don't know if those would convey the point.

So what are some greetings I can/should use?

Thanks for your help,
Vespero.

"Hej" should work with anyone that is North European or comes from a culture that has contact with English in some manner.

But basically expressions like greetings or exclamations sort of transcend the language they're used with, just like I say "hasta la vista amigos!" to my friends in my Indonesian classes instead of "sampai jumpa" rido.gif
