If so, please contact the lernu! team at teamo@lernu.net (or contact me personally with a message to my username). The lernu team is investigating the possibility of requesting funding to create a website that would teach sign languages from various countries.

We'd like to ask some questions of our deaf users from different countries, to discuss possible contents for the site.

[I'm going to post this same message in Esperanto to an Esperanto forum, but I'd be grateful if anyone who is so inclined would translate this message to other languages and post it to other forums]

I forwarded your message to the director of Centre for Deaf Studies in Moscow. They are sign language specialists.

Would be interesting if Gestuno and Signuno are already used.

This project won't involve Esperanto, and it doesn't involve Gestuno or Signuno. It has to do with making it easier for speakers of various sign languages to learn each other's languages. There is an excellent sign language dictionary online but it doesn't discuss the grammar of the sign languages, so the best you could do would be "pidgin signing".

So like a lernu/slovake for sign languages? I'm not deaf but it'd certainly be useful, I for one don't attempt to learn any sign languages because the information on them is almost non-existent, and they're not necessarily easy to learn given their lack of a normal writing system...

Right. Pretty much like that. With forums for users to communicate with one another, etc.

Cool. rideto.gif I like Lernu's layout and wish something like it existed for learning an Australian Aboriginal language (like Arrernte, Pitjantjatjara, Warlpiri, etc.).

Hope this endeavour is succesful. okulumo.gif

Esperanto Gestuno (YT-video) in action.

Does I have to be ashamed of liking (its cool) that deaf to non-deaf simultaneous interpreting? There's so much body language involved, which even Italian or South-Frenchman non-deaf doesn't have. Mama, mia. okulumo.gif
