If you try to be overly precise, you will only succeed in confusing people.

I learned this through experience as a beginner.

If you referred to an "interligata komunumaro" I would be confused about why you don't simply say "reta komunumo".

An "interligata komunumaro", to me, says that we have a cluster of villages that are building links between themselves (interligata; if they have already completed building these links, they would be "interligita")

A "ligilaro" to me is a website's list of external links. It's a collection of links, rather than being some kind of process of jumping from one thing to the next.

demando.gif I'm finding myself in need of a good punable translation of "Intelligent design." I'm considering «inteligenta designo» except that sounds to me more like a smart drawing. I will use that if no-one can help me figure out a better translation. & yes, I need to be able to build at least one pun from it, preferably more.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but it seemed to be the closest already going for what I sought.

Okay, now I feel like an idiot for not even thinking of checking the Wiki (& for my own misspelling). Thank you. malgajo.gif

@ Qwertz, for that idea of a community only being a few links away, could "ligilera" work perhaps? Ligilera interreta komunumo? It's not feeling quite right to me but I somehow feel like there's a way to express this idea of an "interlinked" grouped of communities. Maybe interligata komunumero?
Yes, I also would accentuate that interlinked community behaviour. I don't stick just to one community. What about "homa harzardsvarmo"? That would also accentuate loosly group organisation. I came to that idea in case of swarm intelligence. Observing bird swarms they do something similar like hazardly group build-up. Some birds also leaving the swarm and new birds join the bird swarm. But the overall bird swarm has somewhat of similar interest/aim. I.e. that swarm could have to fly to more warmer locations. Some parrots seem to be very keen of building groups. I saw an uproaring parrot swarm in Rockhampton occupy whole palm tree. They had to tell a lot each other at 3 a.m. okulumo.gif

According oxford dictionary animals also can build up communities.

Well then "ligilara komunum(ar)o" seems like a good description an affiliate network, at least that's what comes to mind.
@ Qwertz:
Using "swarm intelligence" as a base, perhaps "svarmkomunumo" could work? (swarm community - a community based on a swarm mentality - for example, loose associations that combined with social instinct drive certain organisms together into loose, relatively emotionally detached groups, as compared to your standard social group where social ties are normally stronger and more emotional).

I like svarmkomunumo because of its somewhat vivid fading character between chaos and self-organisation which seems to enforce a lot of innovation flashes to reach a aim.
