What is this? Inform 7 is a system for programming text-based adventure games that can be played either online or offline (on a computer or smartphone). What I am trying to beta-test is an extension I have created for I7 that lets you write games in Esperanto.

How does this work? For now, I am just releasing a couple of sample games for testing purposes, not the extension itself. I will publish the source code of the extension once I feel like most of the bugs have been fixed.

If you would like to help, just play one or both of the two games below. Save a copy of the game's output and your input by just copying and pasting it from the webpage into a text editor and send it to me: troyjonesiii -AT- g mail -DOT- com. You can also send comments if you like or post comments in this thread. Both games are very, very short, intended more for demonstrations of I7's capabilities and testing my Esperanto extenstion than to be seriously awesome games in and of themselves.

La mantelo de mallumo
La golfeto
(Play "La mantelon" first. It has a "help" command. I forgot to write a help system for "La golfeto".)

Things to look for:
[LISTO]output from the game that appears in English instead of Esperanto (yes, I know the websites say "Home Page", but any other English output, let me know about);
bad grammar or incorrect word usage in the game's output (many of the game's messages are generated sort of automatically from text that is capable of varying, and predicting/checking how everything will look under all circumstances is hard);
actions that ought to work to advance the game but don't (this is more a problem with the sample games than with the extension itself, but I would still like the games to be reasonably playable).
A couple of things to keep in mind:
[LISTO]
Inform 7 has only partial Unicode support. The game can output unicode characters, but cannot accept Unicode input from the player (also a game's title cannot contain Unicode, and a few other annoying restrictions). You must turn off EK! or whatever and type commands in with the x-sistemo.
Verbs must be typed in using the imperative inflection, aka the -U ending.
Most nouns must be inflected with the accusative. There are a few nouns which will let you use the nominative-- basically I gave a noun nominative synonyms if I thought the player might need to refer to it in the nominative during the course of normal play, e.g. PRENU PANON EL LA FORNO (note nominative FORNO). Most nouns do not have nominative forms implemented. You can always use the accusative even if it is grammatically incorrect to do so, however.
Commands must begin with the verb, not the noun, e.g. MALFERMU LA PORDON should work, but LA PORDON MALFERMU will not. This is because the Esperanto extension essentially overlays English grammar (the "real" language of I7), so some of the limitations of English carry over.
I will translate this post and post it in the Esperanto section shortly also.
