Does anyone know if there is an Esperanto translation of this poem:

"T'was the night before Christmas...not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse..."

I tried some web searching for it last night but didn't find anything.

I'd be very interested in hearing any insights you'd be willing to share in the process you went through to write this.

Many thanks for your kind words. Your question is not an easy one, but I might have gone about it in the following way. First, make a literal draft translation fairly quickly, without thinking of rhymes. It doesn't even have to be in a good style. For this purpose, a good dictionary should suffice, given a basic knowledge of grammar.

Then comes the trickier part: to put it into rhyme. Because of the wealth of short words in English, and the need to keep the lines in Esperanto from getting too long, it may be possible to convey only the main meaning or impact, and decisions will have to be made.

You may find the translators' introduction to the New English Bible New Testament helpful. I was going to quote an extract, but I think I'll set it as a translation challenge!
