(I've put this one on the Esperanto-speaking forum as well.)

The quote from Kabe: por havi bonan stilon nepre estas necese koni minimume tri diversajn lingvojn, contains food for thought. Was this one of the reasons that Kabe left the movement? If so, was he right, or can people acquire a good style simply by studying good models of Esperanto? What is your opinion?

If it's literally true, then Esperanto becomes a bit pointless as an easy solution to the language problem.

Learn Esperanto and three languages besides, is hardly an inviting prospect.

As I have read, Kabe got fed up with the Esperantists he met who had a very poor command of the language, so that he was forced to use one of the other languages he spoke to communicate.

Still today, you can bump into the 'eterna komencanto'. And, of course, there always seems to be more komencantoj of the plain variety than spertuloj.

Things haven't changed much in the Esperanto movement since Kabe's day. It's just that some people have a higher tolerance for it than he did.

Why does the Esperanto movement distinguish itself from conlang communities?
Because it is different, Qwertz.

The Esperanto movement has a serious political purpose, unlike the conlang communities which are just a bunch of hobbyists - some more loony than others.

The prospect of any of those conlangs undergoing the development that Esperanto has experienced and presenting the world with a usable solution to the language problem, is zero.

[Qwertz, you may well have valuable points to make. However, your English is pretty impenetrable, and makes it difficult to give them favourable attention.

If the admin weren't so pernickety, I would suggest that you just post here in Esperanto, ie use the language for its destined purpose of facilitating international communication.

But the admin insist that any Esperanto posting in the English Language forum be accompanied by an English translation. Doesn't have to be a good one, though.

That is the reason I strongly support the World Wide Esperanto Written test on June the 9th this year.

I read that there occurs in China too that many esperantists could not speak a sentence and they have to forgo the organising right of the Youth Conference last year.

Certainly, other Esperanto associations can help to prepare for the test but not solely done by KER or UEA.

At least, I speak from my multiculture and multilingual situation. The employer looks at the qualification of paper but not by mouth or photos.

There are still senior esperantists against this world wide test by commenting it as a commercial act. ploro.gif

The topic of this thread is how speaking many languages influences your writing style in Esperanto. This thread is not about philosophies of how people from different parts of the world think.

qwertz, please start a new thread if you want to talk about your ideas about philosophy. You have repeated these ideas over and over, almost always in threads unrelated to the topic. If you want to write a long text unrelated to the topic of a thread, please start a new thread. You can put a link to the new thread into the old thread, for anyone who is interested in reading your ideas.

It is getting a bit tiresome and if you continue to write these long off-topic messages, rather than starting a new thread, I'm going to start deleting them.

Okay. I see. Matter of "Esperanto language forum section only".
It has nothing to do with language. It has to do with discussing to the topic of the thread, and starting a new thread (with a new topic) when you want to talk about something else. And now I am going to delete the off-topic messages from this thread because it has gone on long enough.

And now Qwertz deletes his account after getting into a huff about nothing at all....

And now Qwertz deletes his account after getting into a huff about nothing at all....
It's interesting because his message first read simply "Aha I see", and then I guess he changed his mind and put in the goodbye part, and deleted his account.

I was surprised to see it, to say the least.
He was never warned about his messages, beyond what I wrote earlier in this thread, regarding staying on topic.
