Are Invalida and Kripla synonyms?

In Reta Vortaro there is this note by Sergio Pokrovskij:
Rim.: Kompare kun la objektive-medicina vorto kriplulo, „invalido“ pli ofte implicas socian aspekton (jure konstatita invalideco kiu eventuale rajtigas onin je pensio aŭ alia socia helpo).
From that I think you could determine that 'kripla' and 'invalida' are not exactly synonymous, though they are very similar.

Also, 'invalida' often relates to an illness from birth, far more so than with 'kripla'.
