The ideas I've thought of are:
tranĉgrando, segilspuro, tranĉspuro
I've already ruled out using 'sulko' as that refers to a hole with a definite bottom. A kerf goes clear through the material.
I also considered 'tranĉvojo', but that (to me) sounds like the line one follows to cut, not the cut itself.

tommjames:Hmm a cut made by a saw, how about segiltranĉo?As long as that wouldn't be confused with segiltranĉaĵo we're OK.

As long as that wouldn't be confused with segiltranĉaĵo we're OK.I thought it was the aĵo sense that you were aiming for though?
A 'tranĉo' could refer to either the act of cutting or the result of the act, according to the context. The same would be true of 'segiltranĉo' I think. If you wanted to be explicit that you're talking about the cut itself, rather than the act of cutting, then of course you could use -aĵ for that.
