I was looking at the impressive list of EO groups listed in this Wikipedia article and was surprised that there were no EO Masonic groups or lodges listed. Does anyone know of any that may not have been listed? What about other EO Masonic material like books or web pages?

I've never heard of an Esperantist masonic group. Wikipedia lists an early group which seems to have died in 1913 or thereabouts.

One thing that might explain the situation is that Esperanto culture is concentrated in Europe. I get the impression that freemasonry is much more popular in the US than in most of Europe. At least, I don't see much of it in Europe, whereas in the US it's common to see masonic lodges, hear about masonic charity events, etc. Masonic license plates on cars, I see them relatively frequently here in the DC area. My impression is that Europeans as a whole have a much more negative view of the whole thing than Americans as a whole. European masons may be more reluctant to advertise their membership in such a group.

That may be. I know that in England police officers and public officials have to publicly disclose their membership in any Masonic of other fraternal lodge. Also in Italy there seems to be some strong negative sentiment. It seems, very unfortunately, that any time there is the remotest connection between a criminal and Freemasonry that it becomes quite sensational whereas it would not even make the news if a criminal was a Rotarian, member of the Lions, or some other similar group.

As always, The Simpsons sum it up best. lango.gif

In may 2005 was in Bordeau'x the congress of french esperantist freemasons (maybe as a section of french association). They emitted for this occasion a medal with the portrait of LLZ. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a picture of it on the net. There is notmuch info about it, but I found some links, one in french/eo, the other in spanish.
