I would like to ask for your suggestions.

I will be doing a presentation about Esperanto at a High School in USA next week. May be I'll have 15 minutes for the presentation. I don't want to just speak ABOUT Esperanto but also teach a little bit. Maybe I'll teach some basic words and phrases. Does anyone have any ideas for a short presentation? (structure of it, examples, worksheets, posters, etc.) THANKS!!

Mi petas sugestojn. Mi prezentos Esperanton en usona lernejo la venontan semajnon. Eble mi havas 15 minutojn por la prezentado. Kaj mi ne volas nur paroli PRI Esperanto sed mi ankaŭ volas instrui iomete. Eble mi instruas tre bazajn vortojn kaj frazojn. Ĉu iu havas ideojn pri mallonga prezentado? (strukturo, ekzemploj, laborfolioj, ktp.) Multan dankon!

My only suggestion would be to not get bogged down in its history, but talk about why it's such a fun and interesting language!

Paul, Edukado.net (link) offers masses of down-loadable material developed by Esperanto-teachers (choose A1 for the lowest level).

I'm sure you'll find something visually interesting there.

If I were doing a short talk, I might start with the idea that if you take any two languages, you can always find some feature that is much easier in language A than Language B.

For example, Spelling in Italian is much easier than in English.

In German, grammatical gender presents complications that don't exist in English.

One language may have lots of irregular verbs or plurals, another may have only a few.

English has 20 vowel sounds, Spanish only a few.

English has multiple words like quick, fast, rapid, speedy, express, swift, etc for essentially the same idea. You have to learn in which contexts you can use them

Esperanto is THE language which presents fewer of these complications for adult learners than any other.
