Hey Guys

In the question/answer part 3 of ana pana

A: Nia apartamento havas kvar cxambrojn
Q(according to lernu): Kiom da cxambroj havas via apartamento.

why is the the Q: not the following?
Kiom da cxambroj havas via apartamenton.

Shouldnt apartment not be an object?

kind regards

Andrew

There is no error. The apartment has the rooms, the apartment is the agent.

The rooms are the direct object, not the apartment (because it is the apartment that has the rooms not vice versa), but one never uses -n after da.

This can be slightly confusing since it means that word order can be important (which I believe is covered in the Advice part of the course).

klaj:...why is the the Q: not the following?
Kiom da cxambroj havas via apartamenton.
Kiom da ĉambroj havas vian apartamenton = how many rooms own your apartment.

Which is quite different to

Kiom da ĉambroj havas via apartamento = how many rooms has your apartment...

Here's a nice example:

1. Kiom da viroj kisis vian fratinon?
2. Kiom da viroj kisis via fratino?

1. How many men have kissed your sister?
2. How many men has your sister kissed?

If there were to be an accusative ending somewhere, it would be after kiom, but "kiomn" doesn't exist in Esperanto (thankfully! it would be quite hard to pronounce!)
