I'm not very good with flashcards : I learn most of my vocabulary in context instead of trying to memorize them as individual words.

I use Anki and reading text. Reading various texts reinforces what I learn via the daily flashcards. Through Anki's timed reviews learning new words seems almost effortless.

p.s. I have posted in Anki an Esperanto 5000+ two-way set based on the Baza Radikaro.

When I first started learning Esperanto, I wrote down every new word I encountered in a notebook, and marked which ones I recognized from other languages and which ones were completely new to me. But eventually I stopped, because there were just too many words to write down.

Quizlet can be useful.

But the best way I've found to improve ones vocabulary is to read and note down every word you have trouble with.

I never explicitly studied any vocabulary. That’s just something that doesn’t work with me.

I learned (and am still learning) vocabulary by reading and using it, and using a dictionary when I don’t know the word I need.
