(A) maybe (B) NO (C) Yes (D) Yes (E) YES.

I've used caps to indicate my certainty.

What fiendish theory are you trying to prove now, HB?

She smiled a happy smile.
Nobody speaks like this. Either she smiled happily, or she made a happy smile (or poeticly: she sent me a happy smile or she gifted me a happy smile). Your first 4 examples have such flaring tautology which is a mistake. Don't do this mistake. Nobody dies death or pets a pet.
The last example is agreeable, and doesn't grate upon my ears or disagree with my sense of language.

A) No
B) No
C) Yes, but unnatural
D) Yes, but unnatural
E) Yes

People don't dance a dance. The redundancy makes it unnatural.

It would sound more natural to say that they lead a quiet existence, live a quiet existence, or lead a quiet life.

Nobody dies a death or pets a pet.
Actually, Goli, you can pet a pet in English.

The meaning is dorloti/karesi dorlotbeston.

Although perhaps less natural, I think you might say he died a horrible death.

HB, no English native speaker would feel that there is any violation in living a quiet life or smiling a broad smile, nor that any pun is involved.

And in Esperanto you can dormi profundan dormon, kaj vivi ekscitan vivon.

Whether you call 'dormon' and 'vivon' in those sentences direct objects or not, seems of little practical import.

In fact, the whole of linguistics seems of little practical import.

When did linguistics ever produce a faster, more effective, method for teaching or learning a language.

When did studying linguistics ever produce a more elegant prose in any pupil?

When did Linguistics ever produce an insight into brain function that has been subsequently proved in the laboratory?

Why does Google use a statistical rather than a structural method in its translation software?

HB, if some linguistic insight had produced a much better way of teaching languages, it would surely now be universally adopted.

Nobody prefer doing things the hard way, do they?
