These are students who learn Spanish as a Second language. That’s probably an advantage since Esperanto and Spanish have many similarities. But they did very well in such a short demo. I had to blur parts of the video to protect the privacy of the students since this is a public school.

During this Demo class I made LOTS of mistakes. I know that. I am still learning Esperanto. Feel free to post a comment about those mistakes if you want.

But what I am really interested is on feedback about the demo. Do you think it was effective? Entertaining? Clear? I want to be an Esperanto teacher one day. This is just the beginning. I DO know that I need to improve my Esperanto a lot. But I do think I have pretty good teaching skills, though. What do you think?

Well done Paŭleto! That was a very great presentation and I had a lot of fun watching it. You really deserve a pat on the back for that. You have very good teaching skills, congrats!

Little secret here: you don't actually need to be a foremost expert on something to teach it well. One of the best biology teachers I had was someone who knew nearly nothing about biology, they were just really enthusiastic about the whole affair.

Anyway, there were errors, indeed. That doesn't matter so much, though. It's a little victory if even one of those students keeps on learning Esperanto. You've probably noticed that most people who learn it aren't exactly silent about it.

I like your approach actually, I'm to be teaching some beginners in a month and I might accidentally steal some ideas from you.

Steal away. I am glad that the video was useful to you in some way.

If you have any questions about teaching, please don't hesitate to contact me. I've been teaching for 20 years! ridulo.gif

There were just a couple of minor errors as you yourself pointed out. It didn't affect the teaching itself. But yes, now that you're into something good, working harder definitely pays back. Anyway, keep it up okulumo.gif

Both things are needed: enthusiasm and knowledge. What if students ask something that is just a bit more advanced than the course syllabus? I don't think knowing nearly nothing is enough to be a teacher... ridego.gif

(BTW, I have not watched the video yet, i'll do when i get home)
