I use my Galaxy tab 10.1 optionally with the Logitec bluetooth keyboard for android tablets. But mostly with Thumb Keyboard which allows me to two thumb type with the same speed and accuracy. I switch to Perfect Keyboard or Smart Keyboard for native Esperanto character set typing.

With this setup, I ditched my lappy almost a year ago. I don't even travel with one anymore.. Heck I'm a java programmer and I created whole web pages from my tab. By way of Citrix access to my work desktop

I don't know if ipad has any support either native or third party for Esperanto.

I have an ASUS EEE Pad Transformer that I use when I want to travel light. I have the detachable keyboard and it's very small, light and convenient even with the keyboard attached. I will admit that the Android OS and interface still messes with me sometimes but, as a flexible alternative to a netbook, I really like it. Plus, I'm constantly shifting between PC, Mac, Android so, perhaps I'm just confused in general and it's not really Android's fault ridulo.gif

The 16G Epad by itself is around $329 and the keyboard is another $150. I'm sure you can get deals on each but that's the normal retail currently.

Miland:I'm considering whether to acquire a tablet. For the purpose of using Lernu!, surfing the internet, reading e-books (including colour pdfs) and email, which one would you favour? Would your choice enable skype? How about word-processing documents (at a basic level, at least)?
When the Nook came out I could use it some. Could a program be written that's a little
more versatile for any gizmo?

I've had an Ipad for the last 6 months and I agree with enjina, they are consumer devices, and not really for the production of stuff. My wife bought me a blue tooth keyboard which I use probably once a week for an email or two.
Surfing the net is great, and the book reader is great handling .pdf and apples books nicely. I am very happy with the ipads ability to read .pdfs
I just wish it had an esperanto keyboard!
For my money I would get the ipad and have no regrets.

If you have any specific questions, just ask -

Oh, it does.

Well, it can.

If you already know about Ĝusta Klavaro, you might be tempted to just think "oh, I already know about that", and stop watching. Don't do that. Watch the whole thing.

This works very well on my iPad.
