Although I am still a baby in Esperanto (not even halfway through Bildoj kaj Demandoj yet), I'm eager to practice my Esperanto skills through writing. I've started to keep a journal, but I thought it best to post some entries somewhere where advanced Esperanto speakers can make corrections. I've posted a couple of times on lang-8.com, but there does not seem to be a large group of Esperantistoj there. Do any of you do this kind of thing here at lernu.net? Any suggestions for me? Thank you in advance.
(By the way, how do you say "Thank you in advance" in Esperanto?)

acdibble:"Antaŭdankon" or "Anticipan dankon".Excellent. Dankon. I tend to ask a lot of favors, so that would come in quite handy.
Another thought about writing... do I even need to worry about having my journals corrected? Unlike, say, Japanese, in which there are certain ways to say things naturally, is it safe to assume that, once I learn the grammar rules, whatever I might think of saying in Esperanto is pretty much the right way to say it?

kujichagulia:There are rules of "how to say things normally" even in Esperanto. However, they are not as strict as in most other languages. You will definitely be understood and not even corrected even if you do not follow them.

darkweasel -> Thanks for the input. I think I'll just continue with the courses, finish Bildoj kaj Demandoj and Ana Pana and Mi estas komencanto, then dive into the Esperanto section of the forum, read some posts, and go from there.

kujichagulia:Leke -> Yes, lang-8 is a very nice website. I get my Japanese writings corrected there all the time. However... I know there are a few "native" Esperanto speakers there, but not a lot. Might not have our writings corrected so quickly."native" speakers of Esperanto do not generally speak better than a person who has learned it to a high level.

Thank you, everyone, for your input. For now, I'll just concentrate on completing the courses, then move on from there. A journey of a 1000 miles begins with a hop, skip, and a jump... or something like that.

As for Lang-8, I am actually registered there and, though I have only an intermediate level of Esperanto, I correct a good amount of the few articles written in Esperanto I can see appear therein. And yes, as you already noticed there isn't many experienced Esperantists over there, nor plenty of Esperanto articles.
I just checked the list of the last articles marked with the tag "Esperanto", and your entries are not present therein. You may consider to add the topic tag "Esperanto" to all your (old and future) Esperanto articles, so that potential correctors like me can find them easily.
