I've heard of a highly elided form of Esperanto spoken just for fun (not as a reform proposal) called Esperant'. It's actually written in Esperant' so it might take a while to puzzle out the meaning of the rules written in the link.

Lernu! is a site dedicated to teaching standard, "vanilla", Esperanto. So, Lernu! is exactly the wrong place to present reform proposals. This is because Lernu! adopts changes to the language LAST.

Lernu! will be happy to adopt any and all changes which are first adopted by the global Esperanto-speaking community*.

So, your job is clear. Convince the rest of the world to adopt your changes, and Lernu! will immediately incorporate them. Because as soon as the rest of the world uses your reforms, they will be, by definition, standard, "vanilla", Esperanto.

But not until then.

So until that time, these sorts of proposals have no place here.

Thank you again, erinja, for your good sense. Let us accept the fact that Zamenhof was a genius and that, after 125 years of testing, his creation has proven that it doesn't need 'improvement'. As Kabe said, the first people who should learn Esperanto are Esperantists themselves.

No reform of Esperanto is possible by just proposing it at a forum. It must be widely accepted by the community - and the community is as reluctant to this as the rest of the world to accepting Esperanto. So there is no sense in wasting one's efforts for impossible job. Let's better get to spread the Esperanto as it is - after 120 years it is no child language any more and it doesn't need any sudden reform.

Look you, I see why linguistics just LOVE all this "adjective" and "noun" stuff, but ordinary people who aren't into linguistics find this odd and boring as hell.. I think that kind of change would make it appear more "realistic"..

The English forum is intended mainly for helping people learn Esperanto as it is. It isn't really intended for discussions of reform proposals.

If you would like to talk about your ideas for changing Esperanto, it is a topic that belongs in the Esperanto forums (you could put it in the forum threads "Viewpoints" or "About other languages", since your reformed Esperanto would be a new language).

It isn't a topic that is likely to be very well received, but at any rate, it doesn't belong in this particular forum.

That's simple - telepathically of course, a higher level of Esperanto.

That simpally won't make a notch sense and I'll explain: Each and each basic root word inside the language was already designated by the Fundamento to play a certain role in the sentance by default. That means that people who learn the language must have already studied all the words and know what's their basic part of speech role. Because of this reason particular, and for allowing more diversity in speech and less waste of time by adding unnicassary vowels I'm positive this idea could benefit the language users in general. I thought throughly though so that Smooth language would retain it's compatibility with the formal form, and by far improving the familiarty of words with the intenational vocab'. You could esily treat it as a kind of modern form that reteins the original spirit but adds a new modern flaver to it.

Well, me actually thinks that poetry language having completely differant gramatical rules from language itself is kinda wierd..

Esperanto -a, -o are not unnecessary vowels - they are grammatical markers that show the very function of roots and give clarity to the sentence, which would be lost if you get rid of them.

If I write

bon hom

then which do I mean:

bona homo or bono homa?

Of course you can introduce a rule that the adjective comes first, where would be the freedom of word order then?
