sudanglo:It sends the message that the Esperantists have lost faith in Esperanto
Yes.

Surely the presence of non-Esperanto forums on an Esperanto website indicates that Esperanto doesn't work. Including non-Esperanto forums for the benefit of beginners obviously means that Esperanto doesn't work, since beginners can't understand it. Surely even beginners can post in Esperanto-only forums, and we should delete all forums except those in Esperanto.

More seriously, however - every single person on this website has an absolute right to post in Esperanto. All the time! In every circumstance! There is no time or place whatsoever where an Esperanto-language post is not permitted.

The only rule is that if you're in a non-Esperanto forum, you should provide a translation into the language of the forum.

If you can't provide a translation, that's fine. The solution is to put your Esperanto-only post into an Esperanto forum. You can even put a link in the non-Esperanto forum, guiding to your Esperanto post, if you want.

It's so incredibly simple.

FYI - we had a lernu team meeting today and this topic was discussed. There was unanimous agreement on how to handle this in the new lernu forums.
