Convince them, by whatever means, to put out an album of work entirely and exclusively in Eo, with a clause forbidding translation to any other language.

It may seem at first sight off topic, but please think a moment about it: Why the most interesting debates are in english? That is not the way esperanto will become a "killer-app" on this site...

I thought the same thing about this thread, haha. I was reading the comments and then somewhere toward the middle thought, "Wait...Why is this in English?!" although I suppose putting it in English potentially gets more beginners into the discussion, which is good.

I think that a series of good, well written, easy to read, original, science fiction or fantasy books in Esperanto certainly wouldn't hurt.

There is Gerda malaperis already. But it is not very known yet.
But in my opinion is enough, if a character from popular series (e.g. How I met your mother) spoke a little Esperanto in some situations (as Klingon in Star Trek or Chinese in Jackie Chan films).

A viral video on You-tube, that somehow uses Esperanto, would certainly help to raise public awareness.

On the subject of there being more interesting/lively discussions in the English Forums, Altebrilas, I think you have to consider how many native speakers of English use this forum and how many non-natives have sufficient command of English at least to follow the thread and chip in with a Google Translated contribution.

On the other hand, it is not surprising (Lernu is a learner's site) that there are relatively few competent Esperantists who might initiate or contribute in the Esperanto Forums. The option of posting Google Translated (into Esperanto) posts seems not to be available, because this would be infra-dig, and unleash a torrent of grammar corrections.

Personally, I am only motivated to post in the Esperanto forums when there is an interesting question about the language. The sort of mouthing off of half-baked opinions in Viewpoints holds little interest for me.

There are certainly not more interesting discussions in the English forum. I don't know why you have this impression. There are always far more posts in the Esperanto forums (see Google statistics), and they cover various topics. The main issue is that some people sometimes prefer to start a thread in English, even though they are perfectly capable of posting it in Esperanto. This seems a little odd given the goals of the site.

I think there are enough users that can write pretty well in Esperanto. But, I agree that it would be nice to have more Esperantists with long-term experience, so that they can help increase the standard.

I think that beginners just need to accept that when they first start posting in Esperanto it will indeed take a bit of effort. But it is entirely possible to very quickly learn how to write good-quality sentences in Esperanto. I think that some people just rattle off sentences without much thought, and then we're left with a whole load of mistakes....

The English language section has more posts than any single one of the Esperanto forums. Not the total of course, but all those Esperanto boards together have only - roughly - twice as many posts as the English board. That says something.

Why start with this pointless and misleading statement? The Esperanto section is divided into various forums, whereas the English one isn't.

That's a fairer comparison. Why not start with this, and ignore that other bit?!

You highlight the fact that there are about 40,000 more posts in Esperanto than in English. That's what it says.
