Is it possible to mark all people who speaks Esperanto in the Google map? So that we can count the Esperanto population by regions, and of course the whole amount.
Lernu has users from different continents. The user profiles can be used for such a study. Maybe we can discuss it here.

It is impossible, because many people speak Esperanto without having Internet-account anywhere. But map of Pasporta Servo users already exists and similar map for lernu! would not be difficult to program, only to load (120 thousands of dots is not a few). Another method of discovering count of Esperanto speakers in countries is population census. But question of language skills ir not in all countries. Try to work for lernu! or UN to discover it ridulo.gif Good luck!
PS: In Hungary 4% speak Eo and this is over world average.

There was such a map of lernu! users here some time ago, but I can’t find it anymore.

It is not an uncommon phenomenon for people to learn Esperanto at some stage in their lives (typically when a student) and then disappear from the movement.

Such people must be counted among the speakers as, because of the language's regular and simple structure, they may still retain a command after many years of not using the language.

I know this is true from my own personal experience.
