thats is a brilliant idea why cant we start through skype?is it ok guys?

skype ok for me...every one should send skype name so that i can call all of u an starting studying....we should prepare time table.....

Hello! I've just stumbled onto this thread rather late. I'm a brand new beginner, brand new, a little over a month of daily study is all so far. Still having problems remembering and sorting through the K words, Kio/Kiu etc. I know this will come with time and repetition. I'm self studying with cd's, some books, videos from youtube, etc. I'm not at a point where I can converse vocally even at a basic level yet, so I don't want to try skype just yet. Are there any other brand new learners in the same boat right now? There are no active clubs or groups anywhere near my area. Just thought I'd check. Thanks!!

I'm in about a month or two of self study, myself (though I've had a few aborted starts previously). Currently, I doubt I could hold a conversation in Esperanto without sounding like I'd suffered serious cranial trauma.

Glad to run into you JDN. LOL, I know the feeling! Too bad alot of us have to self-study, I think it'd be great to be in a class or in a group, and sit around and laugh at our own mistakes and accents. Think I probably get a Deer-in-the-headlight look myself. Nice to see someone else who is brand new at this. But it's really excellent that we have all this material available now on the internet to help us out even more.

I feel the same way about Skype. It takes me fifteen minutes to type out a paragraph or two given my lack of vocabulary and grammatical skill, so I don't think I'll try Skype at least until my reading and writing speed gets faster and my vocabulary expands by a few orders of magnitude ridulo.gif

I also had an aborted start about a year ago before getting swamped with classwork, but things are looking up for the future so I'm going to try to commit 15-30 minutes a day to studying and see how that goes.

Once I have learned 10 new Esperanto words by reading and writing, I just achieve about 5 words in speaking on Skype. That means 5 words can be applicable and it is a challenge to put all things we learned into the real communication. 5 is a sort of accomplishment.
