erinja:"Mirinde!" doesn't really have the same meaning as "Wonderful!" ... "Mirinde!" would be more like "Amazing!" or "Surprising!"
I don't see "wonderful" and "amazing" as being significantly different, especially when we're looking for an equivalent of the exclamation "Brilliant!"

Seems like people are willing to use "mirinda" in the sense of English "wonderful".

What was the OP looking for? I assumed he was looking for how to say Brilliant in the Great! sense, not to praise the inventiveness of something.

Jkph, its an interesting question how much spoken Esperanto differs from written Esperanto. But if you don't have access to informal conversation in Esperanto, I think the Tekstaro is a good guide to the usage of common words (like mirinda) - for which many examples of usage can be found (far more than would be quoted in NPIV.

I stick to my position that if someone says I'm coming to granny's funeral, then mirinde! would not be the most diplomatic response.
