For the Slavic language I totally have no idea but saw a thread some time back for promoting of learning this language.

The idea intrigued me, some time back. I had a marginal interest in learning and I thought maybe it would be worth learning if it really works. So I went looking for information about it online, to find true personal accounts of people who actually used it in Slavic-speaking countries and were understood. I did not find any, other than the promotional materials on the Slovio website. I doubt the authenticity of that promotional material, since I couldn't find any independent reports on other websites or forums on Slovio.
If I recall correctly, the one report I found was a person who tried Slovio and wasn't understood. I think the person said that he thinks if the listener had tried harder, he would have been understood. But the person heard a lot of strange words and sort of shut down, and the reaction was "no, I can't understand that", rather than making an effort to try to understand. The writer felt that it would have helped if he had been able to tell the listener something like, "Listen, I'm going to use some words that might be familiar but not exactly your language; bear with me and listen carefully, because you will understand most of it if you try".

However, there is a related project with a similar stated goal. They have implemented three languages: Neoslavonic, Slovianski and Slovianto (with the latter being the most interesting to me). So you aren't mislead by other websites, I recommend reading the disclaimer because, it seems, the creator of Slovio is acting vengefully.
I'd like some confirmation from Slavic-speaking people that they can understand one or more of these languages to a significant degree.

Unfortunately, I don't expect to be able to make any serious conclusions on the subject. Still, I'll work with what I have - a sketchy conclusion and curiosity!

If I receive an e-mail in Portuguese, I can usually understand the gist of it because of having studied related languages. If someone were to speak to me in Portuguese, I'd have no clue.

erinja:I think it's easier to understand writing, too.Yes, sure. While reading, you have time to think over and look back if necessary. But if you heard and not understand, so it remains..

English: "What is Slovio? Slovio is the new international language that is understood by four hundred million people around the world."
With Russian I understand it all. But they don't teach Russian in schools any more these days.
