Two questions:

(1) I noticed that text boxes on this site (for some time now) dynamically convert anything that is regular expression match for x-system text to their Esperanto orthographic equivalents. That is, CX becomes Ĉ, etc. on the fly as text is written. Is there a way to turn this off? I have native support for Esperanto characters through my keyboard layout and this feature just results in annoyances for me.

(2) It's my understanding, based on previous posts in the forums from and buzz in the Esperanto blogosphere, that the Lernu library is growing and new texts are going to be added. I am curious to know if the textbook Teach Yourself Esperanto is going to be included in the expanded library. Does anyone know?

Thanks,

Jeff

You can turn off JavaScript, but I don’t really know why that is necessary: type cxx and you will have the desired result cx.

Hyperboreus:Only if you type too fast, it messes up a bit, as it doesn't move the cursor after the replaced character, although you may have typed already more characters.
That’s a bug I’ve already reported - reproducable by typing e.g. the word "explanation" quickly, this can result in "exlanationp".

BTW, apart from this bug, I’m happy personally with how it is now, especially since nicknames like "mihxil" no longer become "miĥil" when you use the quote button. On my phone, I don’t, however, use Swype or anything similar but just type the single characters.

It won't be there.

The library will only contain texts that we have permission to use, and we don't have permission for that one (and it's published by a huge company, so it's not so straightforward as it is within the Esperanto community, where it's easy to just contact the author and ask for permission - and get a timely yes or no answer).

I guess you forgot a "not" somewhere in that sentence. ridulo.gif
