Grammar questions

Mi lernas esperanton kaj mi havas demandojn:

-'aliri' kaj 'eliri'. Mi komprenas ke 'aliri' estas same ke 'iri al' ("Mi aliris lin" estas same ke "Mi iris al li", ĉu ne?) sed mi ne komprenas tion (el unu libro de C. Piron): "Li el sia ĉambro eliris". Mi dirus "Li el sia ĉambro iris" aŭ "Li sian ĉambron eliris" Kial estas ekstra "el" en la frazo de C. Piron? Mi supozas que Piron estas prava (korekta?) do ĉu eblas diri "mi aliris al li"?

-“Aŭ” ne ŝajnas diri « or (in English) » en ĉi tiu frazo : “La plano ne kuŝis sur la meblo aŭ ĝi ankorau estus tie la sekvantan matenon”. Sajnas al mi que « aŭ » volas diri « otherwise » (en ĉi tiu frazo) sed en mia vortaro mi vidas ke « otherwise » estas « alie » en esperanto do mi ne komprenas.

Mi ne komprenas tiujn frazojn :
- « La demando, kiun mi starigas al mi, estas ‘kial oni sendis ĝin per la poŝto ?’ » => the question which makes me stand is… ?
-“Konsentite, en la papervendejo, nekonate, kaŝe troviĝas unu el la ĉefaj kunlaborantoj, sed tamen!” => Kion volas diri « tamen » (en ĉi tiu frazo)? Does it mean « still » as in « Agreed, in the papershop, one of the main collaborators is hidden, but still!”?

Aliaj demandoj:
Ĉitiutage= hodiaŭ?
ĉu eblas diri «li enmiksiĝis en spionajn agadojn » anstataŭ diri “li enmiksis sin en spionajn agadojn”?

If you're going to write in Esperanto, then these kinds of questions should go in the section 'Konsultejo'. Just repost your message there.

By the way, I think it's great that you're asking these questions in Esperanto, rather than in English. I think everyone here should try to do that, if at all possible.

Hi Antony. This is the English forum, so messages here should be in English or accompanied by an English translation.

As to your questions:
-'aliri' kaj 'eliri'. Mi komprenas ke 'aliri' estas same ke 'iri al' ("Mi aliris lin" estas same ke "Mi iris al li", ĉu ne?) sed mi ne komprenas tion (el unu libro de C. Piron): "Li el sia ĉambro eliris". Mi dirus "Li el sia ĉambro iris" aŭ "Li sian ĉambron eliris" Kial estas ekstra "el" en la frazo de C. Piron?
The other "al" or "el" can look redundant but it isn't, because the "al" in "aliras" is being used to create a new word with a new meaning (approach). "Aliris al la pordo" would be like "approached to the door". In English that would sound a bit odd, but it doesn't in Esperanto. However you could omit the preposition and just say "aliris la pordon".

Yes it looks like "otherwise" to me too. Don't worry that your dictionary doesn't show "aŭ" under its entry for "otherwise". That will just be because it's relatively uncommon to use "aŭ" for that meaning, though IMO it is certainly valid.
Mi ne komprenas tiujn frazojn :

"Starigas" means "set up" or "stand up". I would read this phrase as something along the line of "The question I present to myself is..."
-“Konsentite, en la papervendejo, nekonate, kaŝe troviĝas unu el la ĉefaj kunlaborantoj, sed tamen!” => Kion volas diri « tamen » (en ĉi tiu frazo)? Does it mean « still » as in « Agreed, in the papershop, one of the main collaborators is hidden, but still!”?
I read it as "but still!"
Ĉitiutage= hodiaŭ?
Ĉiutage = daily / every day. Hodiaŭ = today.

Edit: I just noticed that it's Ĉitiutage, not ĉiutage. I would consider that a novel way of saying "today", but not quite correct.

"Starigas" means "set up" or "stand up". I would read this phrase as something along the line of "The question I present to myself is..."
In this case, if "la demando" is the object of the verb then should'it be "la demandoN"?

If "la demando" were the object it would indeed require -N, however the object is actually the relative pronoun "kiu". "Demando" is the subject of "estas".

Nah I don't do clubs and congresses. I do like meeting up with people I've become friendly with through the language, however.
