KLM the Dutch airline recently announced the introduction of flights to Manston airport (3 miles from Ramsgate town centre) from Schipol (Amsterdam). Read more here. This connects Ramsgate to the world as Schipol is a major hub airport.
Also a new fastcraft service connecting Ramsgate Port with Boulogne is proposed. Read more here.
The kongresejo is now confirmed as the Kings Theatre (3 mins walk from harbour), and the dates as 10th May to 12th May 2013.
Looking at the statistics at Lernu I see that 3024 have registered from the UK, 4708 from France, 1189 from Belgium, and 1506 from the Netherlands.
As the capacity of the kongresejo is only 240, I'm beginning to worry about how we fit everybody in.
If you think you might want to come (there are special low rates for young persons and overseas participation, as well as for single day participation) I suggest you dash off an email reserving a place to EAB or actually enrol here.
All the latest developments can be tracked at the Congress Forum

sudanglo:I don't understand this. Where are you getting these figures from? At this rate you'll be surpassing record UK figures!

Yes Cisksje, there does seem to be a considerable disparity between the number that are actually members of EAB with the numbers from Britujo who are learning Esperanto - even assuming only a relatively small proportion of UK Lernu registrants have pursued their studies.

That said, I once worked alongside a fellow who told me his grandfather in Ramelton, Donegal, had learned it...

If you're able, you could even do a version in French and Dutch to make the Europeans feel extra welcome.
Assuming you're open for registration already. It sounds like you are, based on your message.

The EAB management committee seem convinced that people won't enrol until after Christmas.
They might be right about that. Perhaps because it is a 2013 event it seems wrong to enrol in 2012, or perhaps it is only when the days begin to lengthen again that people will be more in the mood. On an overcast day, even in the South of England, at this time of the year, it gets dark very early in the afternoon.
They say that the hibernation effect (winter sadness) is even reflected in stock market movements, so buying in November, when people are down-hearted in the Northern hemisphere and selling in April, when people are more optimistic, can often be profitable.
Anyway, I'd love to see a whole mass of lernu komencantoj sign up. And Ramsgate is a great place for a short visit. By May the sunshine statistics are as good as at the height of the Summer.
Also, new this year will be the appointment of 'Oficialaj Krokodiloj'. This means that eksterlandanoj will not only be able to practise their Esperanto during the Congress but also their English (or other languages). The Krokodiloj will be identified by special badges, and will krokodili on demand.

T0dd:I wish I could go. I may be in the UK in July, but I can't afford two trips. I've been to other points in the area: Folkestone, Deal, Whitstable, etc., but not Ramsgate. I hope the Congress is successful!Maybe you could go to Ramsgate anyway in July, just to see the place!
Nothing stopping you from making prior arrangements to meet up with local Esperantists.

erinja:We'll see. I'll be at a conference in Cambridge. That's about 80 miles from Ramsgate, but it's not a bad idea. Failing that, I could try to get to the London club.

Of course, I have to get a paper accepted at the conference first...

Of course, Cambridge is an attractive town, but it doesn't have a beach of golden sands and a view of France from the cliff-top. I believe there is a fairly active University Esperanto society in Cambridge, but July would be vacation and not term time, wouldn't it, so the students would have dispersed.
