I think it's good that the Lernu-team has made a few changes to the section for donations. It's a good idea to include the comments of those that have donated. Moreover, the concrete information about the course that is currently being worked on also helps to encourage people to make a donation. I don't fully understand the need to mention ESF and its campaign, but that's another matter.

This website now has 313 'highly active' users (see the statistics). And altogether, there are more than 7000 people that are currently using this site to some degree. If each user were to donate only USD 10 or 20 (EUR 7-15), then the Lernu-team could easily reach its target of 5000 EUR for the new course. I donated USD 20 (about EUR 15) today - not a huge amount, but together with other users, that should be enough.

Yes, perhaps many users are too young to donate money, but I'm sure that there are enough adults amongst the currently active users of this site.

In general, I think it would be a good strategy if the section for donations also enabled users to automatically donate a small amount each month. The combined power of many small and regular donations can be equally effective as the bigger donations from a small group of very generous people.

If you donate directly through the ESF site, you can make monthly donations.

We are funded by ESF - that's the link between lernu and the ESF campaign. ESF donations with lernu indicated are directed to fund lernu's activities, so from a monetary standpoint of how much money lernu gets, it doesn't matter whether you donate through ESF or through our page.
