Hi, I'm new in this and I find it very interesting to be able to travel around the world knowing more Esperanto speakers and knowing new countries, many of the times, free. But, is it as great as it seems ? Can you really travel and only pay the plane ticket ? .. Which are the most known countries where Esperantos go to meetings and what are those meetings, what do they do there ?

There is Pasporta Servo, the International Hospitality Service for Esperantists.
You can only pay for the plane ticket and, maybe, the transportation to get to the Esperantist's house.
When you make friends with somebody from the country you'll go to, they might even fetch you at the airport.

I have never used pasporta servo, I have just contacted local Esperanto clubs or people on lernu. I have actually been hosted by people a few times, and other times I have stayed in a hotel and simply met up with local Esperanto speakers. Not every city has people, and some large touristy cities might provide a few difficulties with finding a host (they have more speakers but more requests, so a visiting Esperanto speaker isn't necessarily that interesting to them). But I have met up with Esperanto speakers in lots of places.

Please do learn to speak Esperanto reasonably well before doing this. I met up with some people in Bern, Switzerland, and one of them told me that a lot of people coming through speak only minimal Esperanto, which makes it hard on the host.

Esperanto events generally involve a mixture of talks/lectures on various topics, some of which do and some of which don't relate to Esperanto. That is usually mixed in with a cultural program - concerts and plays at large events; at smaller events, maybe a 'talent evening' or a game evening or a sing-along evening.

If you're in Paris you might stop by the SAT Amikaro storefront near Place d'Italie. They might not be able to help you find a host, but it's the only place I've ever been to where you can simply walk in off the street and be sure you'll find an Esperanto speaker (at least during their somewhat odd opening hours).

They also have an amazingly wide selection of Esperanto books for sale - great place to browse.

Thank you all so much for answering, it surely helps me at the time of traveling with Esperanto.
May you understand that it is a bit difficult to trust in a person you don't know, so really thank you!

You can start easily by trying to meet up for coffee with someone local - no travel involved. The more you are involved with Esperanto, the more people you will know. Many Esperanto speakers have a wide range of international contacts, so you can choose to go visit someone you know (or a friend of a friend) so that it isn't really a complete stranger. However, I have also had excellent experiences with complete strangers. You need to take the normal care that you would take and some people are a bit strange but they are mostly harmless.

Yes, I think that's a good idea, I just have to find some Esperanto speaker here because they are not very usual.
I have a friend in Germany annd he helps me with and tell me about the meetings and places as well.
I'm vegetarian, does it make it more difficult ?
What are the cares you would take when traveling ?

I don't think so. A surprising number of Esperanto speakers are vegetarians. In fact I think I don't know a single vegetarian who doesn't speak Esperanto.

Oh that's great, sometimes you just get worried because of your food, as you may know, it is a serius thing which must be taken by a big care.

Any of you is coming the next year to South America, to the Esperanto meeting in Brazil or Argentina ?
