I am somewhat new to this site. I know that posting an introduction post may be somewhat noobish, but I sense that people here tend to be more patient, so I figured that I would take the plunge!

Right now, I feel motivated to learn it, and I am not sure how long I will maintain the motivation to learn this language, but I will work at it until I lose interest. A concern I have right now is whether I will have a chance to use this skill in the real world. Anyhow, that is all I wanted to say. I am unable to talk on the messenger program, and really can't understand much of anything right now, but I waited my three day probation period and I am finally happy to be able to post in the forum.
Here is to hoping to form friendships with members of this forum!

I hope you have a great time with Esperanto! I'm sure you'll get a chance for real world use if you seek it out. I think it's plenty exciting to be able to communicate with a tonne of people over at the Esperanto forums who otherwise would all have to have learnt each other's national languages to communicate, or pick a language like English and give the non-English a hard time.
You could travel place to place visiting Esperanto speakers who'd love to help you out just for Esperanto-ing with them, or just use Esperanto as a stepping stone to more complicated languages!
Good luck!

EldanarLambetur:WelcomeThanks for the warm response. I was initially a bit nervous about posting for the first time.

Yeah, I know what your saying. If I do continue, I will be seeking chances to use the language.

Purrfecdizzo:Hey guys,Well done.

Here's a thought: as you become fluent in Esperanto and engage with the international Esperanto community through its blogs, forums, publications and events, you can become an ambassador for China to people all over the world who have never visited your country and have never heard a Chinese point of view on world affairs. Something to think about.

noelekim:Oh, actually, I am living in China now, but I am not Chinese. I am from the United States, but I have been living in China for quite a while now. My second language is Chinese, and I have a pretty good grasp of it. I became interested in Esperanto when I learned the basic idea behind it. I am sorry if I appear to be representing something I am not. I have a firm principle of being careful of only representing myself for what I actually am. I hope that people will understand that when I selected my country of residence, I did not necessarily indicate that I am a citizen of that location. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.Purrfecdizzo:Hey guys,Well done.

In the new lernu, we hope to incorporate an element that allows a distinction - an ability to indicate two countries, both where you live and where you come from originally.

erinja:No worries, lots of people have a "country of residence" that doesn't reflect their citizenship.I just don't want to come of as fake... Thats all.

One thing I like is that I feel like I am more on equal footing with others, and we are all learning a foreign language (well, there are some native speakers {
![ridulo.gif](/images/smileys/ridulo.gif)
I also like the idea of using this language as a stepping stone to other languages. Although I cannot speak them, I have some knowledge of French, Spanish, and German. I hope that this will help me develop in those languages as well. I already find common ground. I am not sure how much help they will be in learning asian languages, I hope to pick up some Japanese and Korean.
Well, I guess I put a lot on my plate, but I have discovered that I enjoy learning languages, and right now, I have time to devote to language learning {

Well, thats all I have right now.
