Mi komencis lerni Esperanton. I started about a month ago and have made it through the first 50 lessons. I'm now working my way through Gerda Malapiris. I'm making steady progress- just wish I had a better memory. Anyway I've noticed the correlatives (Kiel, Tiel, Kiam, etc) seem to have several meanings and aren't just question words to start a sentence. These seem to work like demonstrative pronouns- "That which doesn't kill you makes you stronger", "He who hesitates is lost". Also, the command verb tense (lernu, havu, donu) takes on a different aspect when used after a subject- "Sxi havu la libron" seems to mean "Let her have the book." We don't seem to have anything similar in English, although it probably does in other languages. Here's hoping to be able to post in Esperanto one day.

Saluton kaj bonvenon,

That's true. The "k-"-correlatives are used as interrogative and relative pronouns.

You can express this with the auxiliary verb "shall" in English: "sxi havu la libron." ~ "she shall have the book."
