Saluton

The editor of this Global Voice has seem to be agreed to have an Esperanto page. However, how many of the Esperantists in the world would be able to do the job ?

Thank you for your query.

This is the first time someone approaches us regarding a Global Voices in Esperanto site. I would personally be very glad to see this addition to our Lingua project.

Lingua is the translation arm of Global Voices, a self managed volunteer community moved by love. It is quite easy to get a site started, but hard to keep going, as you do need a team of dedicated volunteers, and at least one of them to act as the site editor and leader.

Being the Esperanto community made of such passionate people, I am confident it would not be a problem - I would advice you to speak to other people to check their interest and support, and if you have a team to join you, we can proceed.

Meanwhile, check in the wiki below for inside information about how Global Voices work.

Most active Esperantists are stressed out in many projects and this is a good opportunity for the word Esperanto to be there. Unfortunately, I am not able to do it with several reasons, 1: my Esperanto is not good enough, I may be a contributor of some articles but not as an editor. 2: my internet connection volume is only 300 MB per day, when the it reaches 200 MB, it starts to trod.

Good question! I will spread the idea. I hope some people take part in the translation.

Thank you. If you look at the Chinese page, only 4 translators are working in it and the word Chinese is up on the page. These four are of the simplified version. Of course, the traditional site can convert it into simplified.

If you cannot find the contributor button, look at the last button with 译者群像

Really! I found the list of translators. In other languages there are few contributors too, as Magyar, Hindi and Hebrew. Some people commented on my post on Facebook, but no one said that will translate to Esperanto yet.

Thanks, that is the youngsters these days who prefer to spend hours on FB for games instead of doing something for the world. ridulo.gif

I am keep my fingers crossed for the word Esperanto to be appeared on Global Voice.

Järik:I would be very happy to work as an Esperanto translator for Global Voices. I can translate English, Spanish, and German into Esperanto.

Please let them know that I am interested and/or give me the contact information and I will approach them myself.
Thanks, you can contact the lingua project coordinator Paula. What they really interested is at least one to be the editor for that language. I can be a translator too and contribute a little in a month.

It is not all that translate from English, from your local press and even write blog articles too. A very flexible project.

I think this project would not be materialised despite someone has shown the support. This is the reply from Paula: paula.goes@globalvoicesonline.org

If it is going to be the failure, I am terribly uncomfortable towards the Esperanto world.

The second request from me to Paula

Dear Adam,

Thank you very much!

I think the first step would be putting a team together. Would you be able to introduce these people who have shown enthusiasm? I'd need to have an editor in place before getting started, so I hope among them there will be someone willing to take the role.

Once we have a team, we then we will need to build a site, translate the theme, and we would be ready to go!

Wishing you a great day,
Paula

A project like that is a lot of work, and many Esperanto speakers who are fluent enough to participate are already busy with other projects.

Getting together people to work consistently on a big project isn't an easy task, in Esperanto or outside of Esperanto.

Don't let this discourage you from Esperanto! It is a great idea, but it is a lot to ask of the volunteers. If I were more fluent I would put my name up, but I would only be able to translate from English. It would be quite a change from my usual work (programming/testing).

I do feel that news sites and their like are very difficult to compete with in Esperanto. I can already get world news in English. What I can't do in English is talk with people from all over the world on an equal footing. I think that more fluent Esperantists are more focused on spreading Esperanto, and those sites that use it (without being expressly about it) are Esperanto-specific sites.

Thank you sir, now i have to review what they said about the Esperanto world. Tons of them are on Facebook and Twitter posting nonsenses but it is hard to get one to begin with. Just one editor and there is not time required, just do when you are free.

Look at the Khemer page, it is one person show, one editor as well as the translator. Now the opportunity is there, but the esperantujo is not taking the chance. no one is helping lernu to do Khemer version of translation , in ASEAN region, only Khemer, Loas and Myanmar languages are missing, otherwise, ASEAN should have completed the learning materials and perhaps, ASEAN can begin with the regional language by using Esperanto

Well, we cannot force anyone, as the Dutsech Welle reported that the youngsters are not thinking to use Esperanto as a world language as they speak other few languages.
